CAVITY WALL INSULATION
About 35% of all heat loss from UK homes takes place through external walls. Most homes built after 1920 have twin exterior walls with a narrow cavity between them.
This can be filled with an insulating material by injecting mineral wool or beads into the wall. This restricts any warmth passing between them, reducing the money you spend on heating.
If you’re unsure whether your walls have a cavity in them you can usually check by either looking at the pattern of bricks or by measuring the thickness of the walls next to a door or window:

LOFT INSULATION
Heat from your house will rise resulting in about quarter of the heat generated being lost through the roof of an uninsulated home

Insulation should be applied to the loft area to a depth of at least 270mm, both between the joists and above as the joists themselves create a “heat bridge” and transfer heat to the air above.

External Wall Insulation
Texacote uses a range of high performance exterior wall insulation systems from a number of manufacturers to suit a variety of exterior surfaces and customer's requirements.
This involves fixing an insulating layer to the outside of the house, and putting a render or cladding over the top. Render is generally the cheaper option. Cladding comes in a variety of forms including brick, tiles, timber or shingles.
You may need planning permission for external wall insulation, so make sure you check with your planning department before going ahead. It may not be suitable for the front of some period houses, but you may be able to insulate the back.
The most common insulating material is polystyrene. The render finish usually consists of a reinforced base coat followed by a decorative mineral or synthetic finish. EWI Systems increase a properties energy efficiency reducing fuel bills.

Electric Storage Heaters
Electric storage heaters are insulated units that store heat during off-peak times to help decrease your energy bills. They store the heat and release it as you need allowing you to enjoy the comfort of a well-heated home at the off-peak price.
Off-peak times are when demand for electricity is low and is usually set on an Economy 7 meter between 12pm – 7am each night.
Your dual meter will record the amount of electricity you use during normal hours and off-peak hours and you are billed accordingly. As a rule of thumb, off-peak charges are roughly 1/3rd of peak rates, so there are substantial savings to be made. The heaters are extremely well insulated and have much better controls that older versions
